 Fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine &
 Shoulder Surgery 

The fellowship experience is 52 weeks in duration, beginning August 1, and includes:

 Benefits

  • The stipend is commensurate with a Vanderbilt University Medical School PGY-6 salary
  • The fellow is provided malpractice insurance, medical insurance (for self and dependents) and two weeks vacation
  • The fellow is sponsored at two continuing education/academic courses
  • The fellow is sponsored to take the AOSSM fellowship or CAQ exam

 Requirements

  • Applicants must have completed an accredited residency program in Orthopaedic Surgery
  • Applicants must be licensed to practice in the State of Tennessee
  • To be considered, applicants must submit the following by Dec. 1:

    1. Universal Sports Medicine Application Form
        (download PDF)
    2. Curriculum Vitae
    3. Three letters of recommendation

This fellowship is accredited by the ACGME. Fellows will be qualified to sit for the CAQ in Sports Medicine.

Interview dates for 2010-2011 fellow will be December 6 & 13, 2008.

Charlie Cox, MDVanderbilt Sports Medicine and the Sports Medicine/Shoulder Surgery Fellowship Program are pleased to announce Joseph DeAngelis, MD will be joining us as our 2008-09 fellow on August 1. Dr. Cox is a 2003 graduate of University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA. He will complete a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at University of Connecticut in Farmington, CT  in June. He enjoys running, sculpting and snowboarding.

The Sports Medicine/Shoulder Surgery fellowship has graduated three fellows.  We are proud of the contribution they make to academic sports medicine:
